Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the KodiBook mobile application ("the App") or visiting kodibook.com ("the Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

If you are using KodiBook on behalf of a farm, business, or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use KodiBook.

2. Who We Are

3. Eligibility

You must meet the following criteria to use KodiBook:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a resident of India (the App is designed and operates under Indian law)
  • Have a valid Indian mobile phone number capable of receiving OTP
  • Not be barred from receiving services under applicable law

KodiBook is intended for use by independent poultry farmers, shed workers employed by such farmers, and agri-business integrators. It is not designed for commercial trading, layer farming, or livestock other than broiler poultry.

4. Account Registration

4.1 OTP Authentication

KodiBook uses phone number OTP authentication. You are responsible for keeping your phone secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4.2 Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during onboarding and to keep it updated. Providing false information (including impersonating another farmer or business) may result in account suspension.

4.3 Owner and Worker Accounts

  • Owner accounts have full access to farm setup, financial data, batch management, and worker management.
  • Worker accounts are created and assigned by an Owner. Workers have limited access — daily shed logging only. Workers cannot access cost entries, settlement data, or financial KPIs.
  • Owners are responsible for the actions of workers they assign to their farm.

4.4 Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your device
  • Enabling the optional biometric app lock if your device is shared
  • Notifying us immediately at support@kodibook.com if you suspect unauthorised access

5. Subscription Plans & Payments

5.1 Free Plan

KodiBook Free is available at no charge and includes core features: daily shed logging, live profit dashboard, settlement PDF, basic alerts, batch scheduling, and inventory tracking. Free plan access is not time-limited.

5.2 KodiBook Pro

KodiBook Pro is a paid subscription at ₹1,999 per year (subject to change with notice). Pro features include unlimited Farm Advisor AI queries, Harvest Timing Optimizer, performance benchmarking, full AI Digest, community posting, and priority support.

5.3 Free Trial

New users may access KodiBook Pro features during a 30-day free trial. No payment is required to start a trial. At the end of the trial period, access to Pro features is automatically downgraded to the Free plan unless you subscribe.

5.4 Payments

Payments are processed by [Payment Provider — e.g., Razorpay / Google Play Billing]. By subscribing, you authorise the recurring charge at the applicable rate. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

5.5 Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund for annual Pro subscriptions if requested within 7 days of the initial purchase. Refunds are not available for partial subscription periods or after the 7-day window. To request a refund, contact support@kodibook.com.

5.6 Price Changes

We will provide at least 30 days' notice before changing subscription prices. Price changes will not affect the current billing period.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use KodiBook only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose under Indian law
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the App or its data
  • Impersonate another farmer, business, or KodiBook employee
  • Share your Owner account credentials with anyone outside your farm operation
  • Use KodiBook to store or transmit data unrelated to poultry farm management
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription gating, feature locks, or trial limits
  • Post content in the Community (F24) that is defamatory, obscene, misleading, or violates another person's rights
  • Use the Farm Advisor AI to generate harmful, misleading, or fraudulent advice to share with others
  • Interfere with the App's servers, Firestore database, or FCM infrastructure

7. Data Ownership & Licence

7.1 Your Data

You own all farm data, batch data, shed logs, and financial records you enter into KodiBook. We do not claim ownership of your data.

7.2 Licence to Operate the Service

By using KodiBook, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App. This licence ends when you delete your account.

7.3 Anonymised Aggregates

We may use anonymised, aggregated data (e.g., average FCR across all users in a region, median mortality rate by breed) for research, benchmarking seeding, and product improvement. This data cannot be used to identify you.

7.4 Community Content

Content you post in the KodiBook Community is visible to other users. You retain ownership but grant KodiBook a licence to display and distribute it within the platform. You may delete your posts at any time.

8. AI Features — Important Limitations

KodiBook includes AI-powered features: Farm Advisor (F21), AI Digest (F40), Harvest Timing Optimizer (F22), and AI-generated benchmarking insights (F37).

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI responses are generated by Google Gemini based on your batch KPI data. They are informational only and do not constitute professional veterinary, agricultural, financial, or legal advice.
  • AI recommendations may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your specific farm conditions.
  • You are solely responsible for all decisions made regarding your flock, including harvest timing, medication, feed changes, and pricing negotiations.
  • KodiBook does not guarantee any profit outcome, FCR target, or mortality rate based on AI recommendations.
  • The Harvest Timing Optimizer provides a suggested window based on live signals — actual market prices, buyer negotiations, and biological outcomes are outside our control.

Always consult a qualified poultry veterinarian or extension officer for flock health decisions.

9. Offline Mode & Data Integrity

KodiBook is designed to function offline. However:

  • Data entered offline is stored locally in SQLite on your device. If your device is damaged, lost, or reset before syncing, that data may be permanently lost.
  • Cloud sync via Firestore acts as a backup. We provide a Data Restoration feature (F29) to recover historical data from Firestore to a new device.
  • We strongly recommend keeping your device connected periodically to ensure sync occurs.
  • We are not liable for data loss caused by device failure, OS updates, or uninstallation before sync completes.

10. Worker Management

Farm Owners using the Worker Management feature (F12) agree to:

  • Obtain the consent of any shed worker before adding their phone number to KodiBook
  • Not add workers without their knowledge or against their will
  • Promptly revoke worker access when a worker is no longer employed at the farm
  • Take responsibility for all shed log entries submitted by assigned workers

Workers assigned by an Owner acknowledge that the Owner can view all logs they submit and can revoke their access at any time.

11. WhatsApp & SMS Notifications

If you enable WhatsApp or SMS alerts:

  • Your phone number and alert message content are transmitted to WhatsApp Cloud API (Meta) or Twilio for delivery.
  • Standard data charges from your mobile operator may apply.
  • We are not responsible for delivery failures caused by WhatsApp or Twilio service outages.
  • You can disable alerts at any time from the Settings screen.

12. Intellectual Property

All software, code, design, text, graphics, AI prompts, seeded benchmarking data, and research data in KodiBook are the intellectual property of [Your Legal Entity Name] or its licensors.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the App
  • Use the KodiBook name, logo, or brand without written permission
  • Create derivative works based on the App

The seeded industry benchmark data (breed standards, FCR targets, vaccination schedules, seasonal benchmarks) is sourced from publicly available Indian poultry research. It is provided for reference only and may not reflect current industry conditions.

13. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE".

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, KodiBook disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Accuracy or completeness of KPI calculations, AI responses, or benchmark data
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App
  • That the App will meet your specific farm's requirements
  • Security of your data against all possible breaches

KPI formulas (FCR, mortality %, cost/kg, net profit) are calculated from data you enter. Accuracy depends entirely on the accuracy of data your workers log. Garbage in, garbage out.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KodiBook and its owners, directors, employees, and licensors shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage
  • Loss of profit, revenue, data, or business opportunity
  • Losses arising from reliance on AI-generated advice or recommendations
  • Losses arising from incorrect data entered by shed workers
  • Losses arising from device failure, data loss, or connectivity issues
  • Losses arising from a trader dispute where the Settlement PDF or KPI data was used as evidence

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ₹2,000 — whichever is lower.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, which cannot be excluded under Indian law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KodiBook and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your use of the App in violation of any applicable law
  • Content you post in the KodiBook Community
  • Actions taken by workers you have assigned to your farm account

16. Termination

16.1 By You

You may stop using KodiBook and delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. Deleting your account will initiate removal of your Firestore data within 30 days. Local data is removed on uninstall.

16.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • You engage in fraudulent, harmful, or abusive behaviour
  • We are required to do so by law or court order
  • We discontinue the App (with 30 days' notice where possible)

16.3 Effect of Termination

Upon account deletion or termination, your data will be deleted from our servers as described in the Privacy Policy. You may request an export of your data before deletion by contacting support@kodibook.com.

17. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.

Dispute resolution process:

  1. Informal resolution (30 days): Contact us at support@kodibook.com. We will try to resolve the dispute within 30 days.
  2. Arbitration: If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The arbitration shall be conducted in English in [Your City], India.
  3. Courts: If arbitration is not applicable, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [Your City], India.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you via push notification or in-app message at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the new Terms, you may delete your account before they take effect.

19. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and KodiBook regarding the App.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
  • Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights to a successor entity.
  • Language: These Terms are written in English. In case of any conflict with a translated version, the English version prevails.
